Obituary for Thomas A Cioce

Thomas A. Cioce of Woodland Park, entered eternal life, Feb 22nd, surrounded by his family, he was 93. Thomas was born on Dec 9th, 1924 in Passaic, NJ. He entered the US Army in 1943, serving during WWII in the Pacific Theater. Thomas was a recipient of two Purple Hearts', for injuries sustained during landing invasions at Kwajalein Island, Leyte Gulf and at Okinawa. While recovering after his last injury, he stepped in as a drummer at a gala and was recruited to serve the remainder of his tour as an Army drummer until his discharge in 1946. Thomas was married to his beloved wife of over 70 years, Beatrice Lauricella on October 26th, 1947. He served the City of Passaic as a Fireman for over 25 years, until his retirement in 1984. He also spent many years repairing sewing machines. Thomas was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Passaic, where he had been an active usher for many years, and was a member of the Mt. Carmel Leisure Club. He had also been an active member of the VFW and the Disabled Veterans. In addition to being a huge NY Yankee Fan, he was a kind-hearted and devoted family man. He enjoyed extensive travel with his wife; playing the piano, organ and the drums in a variety of bands. He is survived by his loving wife Beatrice, his 2 beloved daughters and their husbands Laura Caldwell and Bryan Pivar, and Cindy and Edward May. He is also survived by his 4 granddaughters Kaitlynn, Jennifer, Nicole, Kristen, and great-granddaughters Eleanor and Riley. He was predeceased by his brother Richard, and son-in-law Dan Caldwell. Visiting 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Sun, Feb 25th, Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave, Wallington. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am, Monday, Feb 26th, 2018 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 10 St. Francis Way, Passaic, NJ.
